No More The Arctic Star III!!

Blogger's Note

Okay,  I'm really sorry I haven't posted something on O, Really? in a while... Here's the truth.. I haven't been really working on my story, "Story Surge". There are two reasons. One, this past week, our family has been like IMMACULATELY cleaning the house, like a deep, deep clean. It's something we do about every 6 months.  I mean dusting-off-the-lights-up-high-to-get-the-dust-off type of cleaning. So I've been busy with that, and also, two, I just got my stories transferred from the kitchen computer to my laptop. The reason for that is because my stories were on Microsoft (where I still wrote during my "big break") and my laptop only has Google Docs... so I was able to transfer them so I'd be able to publish them here on O,Really? I also have some big news... as of right now, I don't think I am going to continue writing my other story, The Arctic Star III (I'm really sorry, Mama Liz..). I think writing, editing, and then publishing one whole story is enough right now. Perhaps after I'm done with "Story Surge", I'll work on it. So, I hope you didn't get your hopes up about that one, because for right now, I'm going  to stick with "Story Surge". I promise, though.. I will work even harder on "Story Surge" than before. Again, I'd like to say sorry to Mama Liz because I know she was looking forward to it, so I really hope you like "Story Surge", instead, Mama Liz :). Along with "Story Surge", I'm trying to come up with other small little projects I can post, and I think I've thought of one... Comment down below if you want your name to be turned into an acrostic. It can be any type of an acrostic (a one with quotes, adjectives, even a type of acrostic you make up!) Remember to keep on checking up on O,Really? for more updates. I'm thinking I'll have 1 or 2 small projects posted here at least once or twice a week and a full story once every 1,2, or 3 months. And Jessica, for the article about you... I will post an article about you on a very special day... one of which I am not telling you! ;) Alright, bye!!
Catch ya later,
O

A Special Excerpt From my Upcoming Fictional Story, "Story Surge"!

Excerpt from "Story Surge"

Late that stormy, dark night, I shivered in bed. I tossed and turned over and over again. I couldn't fall asleep. Finally, I gave up trying to go to sleep, and grabbed a book from the pile of books my mom gave me beside my bed. This one was the Wizard of Oz. I could try to read it. I flipped on my lamp light and sat up, and, turning the first page, I noticed something odd. Somehow, inside the page, a light flickered. It had to be a trick of the light. Ignoring it, I turned the page to the first page of the story. Dorothy lived... I read, but stopped. The light from the first page had suddenly grown increasingly brighter, lighting up the page I was reading, too. Furrowing my brows, I turned back to the first page. Big mistake. Out of nowhere, a strong, violent breeze of wind blew my hair to the side. Had that come from the book? My stomach started to grow queasy at an alarmingly fast rate. What was going on? I tried to calm down, though. It made sense. It was a stormy night. The light had to be the lightning outside illuminating the pages. The wind, though... My window was shut firmly.
I looked up at the fan. It was off. I looked back at the book. Then, out of the blue, the light stopped glowing.  Huh? I thought. The lightning hadn't stopped. Everything was silent for the next couple of minutes. Even the lightning outside seemed to tone down a bit. And then... I screamed. The light came back in full force blinding me, and illuminating the whole room. It was madness after that. The light changed from yellow to pink then to purple and to blue. The wind came back like a tornado, sweeping me off my bed. Nope. This couldn't be the lightning. It had to have come from the book. But, how? I couldn't think about questions, what with the craziness going on. I had to do something. I reached for the book. Maybe, if I could close it, it would all go away. That just made it worse. The blinding colors, the wind, all of it combined to create one mass of confusion. My mind became hazy, I became very dizzy, and I collapsed, with half my body on the bed. The last thing I remembered was being somehow tugged towards the book?
Either way, I felt one last pull, like invisible hands were tugging my body, trying to pull it apart, before everything went BLACK.
When I woke up, I don't know minutes, hours, days later, I had a major headache. Wow, I thought. What a wild dream that was! My eyes flashed open, and instead of being at home, snuggled deeply in bed, I was somewhere else. This DEFINITELY couldn't be home. This had to be somewhere quite far away from home. My heart pounded. Even with my pounding migraine, I could still think, unlike earlier, when I was caught in that odd, colorful, tornado? It was still hard to think, anyways, but the first thought that came to mind was, WHERE IN THE WORLD WAS I?

Blogger's Note
Hey guys! I hope you liked this excerpt from "Story Surge". Soon, I will post an excerpt from my other story, "The Arctic Star III". Once I've written enough, I'll be able to. I will make sure to work hard on "Story Surge" so you guys can read the final story, along  with "The Arctic Star III". "Story Surge" will probably come out in possibly a month to a month and a week. I'll see. Keep on checking up on O,Really? for more updates. I won't only have just these stories. Comment down below what you think about this excerpt. Catch ya later!

Sorry...

Sorry...

I know I have not posted in years, but that's because the summer ended, I had to go back to school, I forgot about the blog, my parents reminded me about it... but by that time, I forgot my log in information. So, I took a LONG break (sorry :()... I still wrote after that, just on lame old Microsoft (ha!), and I have a couple fiction stories that are on there way out... I'll just have to transfer them from Microsoft to here. Here's a head ups about what they are called: the first one is called Story Surge, and the other one is called The Arctic Star III. And trust me, they're both interesting, I promise. I pretty much worked on them during my summer before I went into 5th grade, and now that I am going into sixth grade, it'll be a 5th grade/6th grade written story... if you know what that means... :) Anyways, I'll be letting all my close friends and family know about my blog, so hopefully, I can get it up and running. I hope you understand about this "long break crisis" and I promise, I'll be getting new stories in as soon as possible... I'll be having fiction, nonfiction, articles, short stories and more on this blog, O, Really?

Running for Class Representative

This year I tried out for student council representative. Student rep. is when you are the rep. for your class. You go to meetings and take notes on what the older kids say. You also help out with things like the Can Food Drive.

At first, I didn’t want to try out; I thought I wouldn’t  make it anyways and I was too embarrassed to talk in front of my class, but then my sister, Jessica, persuaded me to try out, and my mother wanted me to try out too. And so I did. My mom signed the form, and I was now running.

I then created my speech. At the beginning, I gave up and said I couldn’t do it, but eventually, I did. My mom and sister helped me and I practiced in front of them. All week I was nervous, and finally on Friday I had a huge butterfly in my stomach with little butterflies around it, I was so nervous.

Each person was called up to present their speech. All of them were pretty good. Then, it was my turn. As I walked up to present my speech, my stomach was rumbling with butterflies. I reached the front of the room. At first I was still nervous, but I finished the rest of my speech calmly. Here was my speech:

“Hi. My name is Olivia Lightfoot and I am running for class representative. This is my first time trying out so I hope you will vote for me. To be in student council, you must take good notes. I am a very good note taker and I love to write. I have written 3 stories in the past 3 years and I even have my own blog. Also for student council you need to volunteer to help out. For example, the Can Food Drive. I volunteer to watch my little cousins to help out my aunt.

“So I’m hoping you will vote for me. If you do I will do a very good job as your class representative.”

During specials, I was nervous. I really, really wanted to get in. Unfortunately, two yellow papers were sitting in two people’s mailbox, not mine. Then everyone figured out they were voted. I still said “Congratulations” to both of them. But I was still upset inside.

My mom said she was just proud of me. She said it didn’t matter if I had gotten in or not. So I guess it really just matters that I even tried. I know that I can still try out next year, this time for the whole school!

My Summer 2013

These are the things that I did this summer:

- My family had a family reunion, and I met a lot of people I never knew. People came to our house, and we played games and had a lot of fun, we also went to other people's houses . Some of our cousins from Iowa and California came to celebrate our family reunion. I even met a kid my age  from California. It was very fun and I can't wait until the next time we meet.

- I went to a volleyball camp at Plano East Senior High. I had a great time with my friends: Tanaz and Sydney. The coaches were really nice, and I learned how to serve an  over-hand  serve. I even won Camper of the Day on the first day! We played a lot of games including: Elbow Tag and Newcum. I was really sad to stay for only a week, but I had a great time!

- I went to the Caribbean this summer. Special thanks to my Grandma Michelle for taking us! We stayed in a boat with two trampolines in the front. It was awesome!  And we went to the following places:

Monkey Point (an awesome place to snorkel), Cane Garden Bay, The Baths, White Bay, and Cooper Island. We hiked to the top of The Baths, where there was a restaurant and a pool , too. Monkey Point was probably the best snorkeling place. There was lots of fish, coral, and rocks. My family and I had a fun time, I can't wait to go again!

- I had a birthday party for me, and I invited some of my friends. Special thanks to my parents for helping me set it up. We did some water games outside, then came inside to eat. Then, we went to my next door neighbor's house, ( Special thanks to Miss Amanda for letting us use it) to swim for about an hour. After that, we came home, did some more water games, then went inside and dried off. Afterwards, we had cake, and went inside to play. Then everyone left. I had the best 9th birthday ever!

- We had a birthday party for my sister, Jessica. Both some of my dad's and mom's side came over to celebrate for her 17th birthday. We ate Mexican food, and I also went outside to play on the trampoline with the other kids. We watched some TV and watched my brother play games on our PS3.  It took a long time to set up the party. We had to clean the house, do our chores, make food, and set up tables for the kids to eat before people got to our house. But we managed to do it all together and we had a great party.
